Siding cost calculator

A default estimate is already shown below. Change the material, ZIP, home size, stories, project complexity, and removal selection to see how the approved rate-card model responds.

Your planning range

$6,832–$18,425

Expected project range for vinyl siding on a 1500 sq ft home. The labor calculation uses the selected story and complexity adjustment and the national state baseline until a ZIP is entered.

This is a planning estimate, not a quote. Wall area, trim, repairs, permits, and local scope can change a final price.

How to read the result

The displayed low, expected, and high figures are a planning range. The calculator shows the expected material, labor, and optional removal components separately so you can see what drives the number before you request local pricing.

Use exterior facts, not just living area

Home square footage is a useful starting point, but it is not the same as siding area. A final contractor scope should account for actual wall area, openings, gables, rooflines, attached structures, waste, height, and access. Use the default estimate to set a budget conversation, then let an installer measure the exterior before treating any number as project-specific.

Choose the inputs that change labor

ZIP and labor marketEnter a ZIP to apply the approved labor adjustment for a covered state. Unlisted states use the rate card’s default labor multiplier instead of an invented local number.
Stories and accessHigher walls and more complex access affect the labor component, not the national material baseline. Select the story band that best matches the home.
Exterior complexityA simple exterior, standard exterior, and complex exterior use the approved labor multipliers. Complex geometry, many openings, or detailed transitions should be verified in the written scope.
Removal as a separate choiceThe rate card keeps non-hazardous old-siding removal and disposal separate from the installation baseline so it is charged once when selected rather than hidden in every estimate.

What the calculator cannot determine

It cannot inspect moisture damage, sheathing condition, permit requirements, asbestos or other hazardous-material work, product availability, local design review, or the exact trim and flashing details your home needs. Those items should be described and priced in a written proposal, with any changes documented before work proceeds.

Next step after the estimate

Compare written scopes, not only totals.

When you request pricing, ask every contractor to identify material, removal, preparation, water management, trim, repairs, permits, payment milestones, cleanup, and warranty terms.

Step 1 of 9

Where is the project?

What does new siding usually cost?

Siding cost depends on the material, exterior wall area, height, removal needs, trim, repairs, and local labor. Start with a range, then compare written local quotes for the scope you actually need.

Does the calculator provide a final quote?

No. It provides a planning estimate using the site’s published master rate card. A contractor needs to inspect the home and define the full scope before giving a final quote.

Why does the same siding material cost more in some places?

Labor availability, access, building requirements, freight, season, home height, and the level of trim or preparation can all change a local installed price.

Should old siding be removed?

That depends on the existing material and condition. Removal can reveal moisture or sheathing issues and is priced separately in the calculator because it is not always required.
